The "Parc National des Ecrins" is one of the largest and most beautiful natural parks in the French Alps, with many three thousand meters high peaks. Each season has its own charm and you can enjoy the diversity of the landscapes.

In spring and summer it is a flowery paradise. From the campsite you can take the most beautiful hikes in all directions, and there is excellent mountain biking, rock climbing or rafting. For this reason, each year, many walkers and mountain sports enthousiasts visit our site.

Ecrins National Park is one of Fance's largest nature reserves (92.000 ha).The park offers more than1,800 identified species of plants.Less common species such as anemone glacier, edelweiss, and even a real bonsai adorn the area in different locations.

All plants are protected species at a European level. Plants from all over the world can be found in the alpine garden on the "Col du Lautaret"



The park also has 64 species of fauna, including foxes, one lynx, and chamois.In the park are also 210 bird species, including France's largest population of"golden eagles".In total, 200 species enjoy protection throughout France, including 80 species even across Europe.

Embrun is at 870 meters altitude and is a small town between Gap and Briançon.Embrun has about 7000 inhabitants, and is near the largest reservoir in Europe - the Lac de Serre-Ponçon. Embrun is only 5 minutes walk from the campsite.

In the heart of the Hautes-Alpes is the sunlit lake Serre Ponçon. The lake covers an area of 3000 ha and is the largest reservoir in Europe. The dam (built from 1955 to 1961) , where the rivers Durance and Ubaye come together, is 124 m high and 630 m wide.
